What is Yepa?
What a great question!
The story of YEPA started long before our Travel chapter and also in a totally different environment, than anything travel related. As Yolandé has been involved in the Beauty Salon/Skincare industry for the last 18 years, she started developing an in-house brand of products which is unique to her salon, situated in Johannesburg, South Africa. When the moment arrived to choose a name for the fragrance of these very unique Manicure and Pedicure products, she spent days on end trying to find a name which would best describe the fresh smell of these lovely products.
The first thought she had when she smelled the final fragrance, was that it reminded her of snow. Very crisp and clean and being the flower lover kind of woman she is, she tried all her favourite flower names, combined with the word “snow”. Snow lilly, Orchard Snow, Snow Petals…amongst many others.
Nothing she tried, had the right ring to it and at long last (out of pure desperation at 11pm one evening) she jokingly thought of putting together the initials of each of her family members (YEPA) and googled the meaning… Well, it turned out that it means “Snow Princess”!
The search was over and since then, YEPA has become our way of referring to our family.
Needless to say, when the time arrived for us to choose a name for our Travel Blog, YEPA World was quite an obvious way of referring to our family, travelling the world. YEPA is also a slang way of referring to “Having a good time”, so in so many ways, this is the perfect name for us.
Y(Yolande) E(Ernest) P(Paul) A(Anric) = YEPA!!!
